The AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) Agent is your AI-powered analyst that helps you understand and improve how AI answer engines talk about your brand. Ask questions in natural language and get strategic insights grounded in your actual visibility data.

What the AEO Agent Does

The AEO Agent analyzes your data across all major AI platforms:

Brand Performance Analysis

Understand how your brand performs across all AI models. Track visibility percentages and sentiment scores by prompt, model, and time period.

Competitor Intelligence

See how you stack up against competitors in AI search results. Identify gaps where competitors are winning and opportunities to overtake them.

Source Authority Analysis

Understand which sources AI models trust and cite most. See what content gets referenced and where your brand’s URLs appear.

Opportunity Surfacing

Get prioritized, actionable recommendations to improve your AI visibility. Add opportunities directly to your task list for follow-up.

Interactive Data Panels

When the agent analyzes your data, it displays interactive visualization panels alongside the conversation:
  • Performance Panel - Shows visibility and sentiment breakdowns by prompt and AI model, with comparison to competitors
  • Sources Panel - Displays which sources AI models cite most frequently for your tracked prompts
  • URLs Panel - Shows which of your URLs (and competitor URLs) are being cited
  • Opportunities Panel - Lists actionable recommendations you can add to your task queue
These panels appear automatically as the agent retrieves relevant data, giving you both the conversational insight and the underlying data to explore.

Example Conversations

Analyzing Overall Performance

You: “How is my brand performing this week?” AEO Agent: “Gemini is your weakest model—0% visibility while competitors average 45%. This is your biggest opportunity.

Performance Breakdown

Your overall visibility sits at 47%, up 3% from last week:
  • Strongest: Perplexity (62%) and Claude (54%)
  • Needs attention: ChatGPT (38%) and Grok (35%)
The performance panel on the right shows the full breakdown by prompt. Want me to dig into why Gemini visibility is so low, or should we look at what’s working on Perplexity?”

Understanding Gaps

You: “Why am I not being mentioned in ChatGPT responses?” AEO Agent: “Three patterns stand out from your ChatGPT results:

Content Authority Gap

ChatGPT favors brands with extensive how-to content. Your competitors have 3x more educational content indexed than you do.

Recency Issue

Your most recent blog post is 6 weeks old. ChatGPT appears to weight recent content heavily for your category.

Topic Coverage

You’re missing content on “CRM for small teams”—this appears in 15% of queries where competitors get mentioned but you don’t. Should I surface some specific opportunities based on these gaps?”

Competitive Analysis

You: “Why is Competitor X appearing more than us?” AEO Agent: “Competitor X jumped from 42% to 58% visibility over the past 3 months. Here’s what’s driving it:

What They’re Doing Right

  • Published a comprehensive pricing comparison guide (now cited in 23% of pricing prompts)
  • Active on Reddit and Quora with authoritative answers—Perplexity loves these
  • Recent press coverage from TechCrunch and Forbes

Your Opportunity

The good news: their wins are replicable. I’ve surfaced three opportunities based on this analysis—check the Opportunities panel. Want me to prioritize them by impact?”

Finding Opportunities

You: “Find opportunities to improve my visibility” AEO Agent: “I found 4 high-impact opportunities based on your data. They’re now in the Opportunities panel on the right.

Top Priority

Reddit visibility gap: r/[YourCategory] threads are cited by AI models, but you’re not mentioned. Authentic participation here would improve visibility on Perplexity and ChatGPT.

  • Update your pricing page (competitors are winning pricing prompts)
  • Create a comparison guide for “[Product A] vs [Product B]”
  • Add FAQ schema to your top landing pages
Click “Add to Tasks” on any opportunity to track it. Want me to explain the reasoning behind any of these?”

  • Recommended Action - The specific next step
To track opportunities:
  1. Review opportunities in the panel as the agent surfaces them
  2. Click Add to Tasks on any opportunity you want to pursue
  3. The opportunity becomes a task you can assign, prioritize, and track
  4. Work through opportunities systematically in your Tasks dashboard
This workflow ensures valuable insights don’t get lost and your team can methodically improve your AI visibility.

Best Practices

Be Conversational

The AEO Agent is designed for natural conversation. Ask questions like you would ask a colleague:
  • “Why aren’t we showing up on ChatGPT?”
  • “What’s our biggest opportunity right now?”
  • “How do we compare to [Competitor]?”

Follow Up

The agent is built for back-and-forth dialogue. Don’t stop at the first response:
  • “Tell me more about that Reddit opportunity”
  • “What would that look like specifically?”
  • “Prioritize these by impact”
  • “What should I do first?”

Use the Data Panels

When the agent retrieves data, explore the visualization panels:
  • Switch between Performance, Sources, URLs, and Opportunities tabs
  • Drill into specific prompts or models
  • Use the data to inform your follow-up questions

Be Specific When Needed

For deeper analysis, provide context: Instead of: “Why is my visibility low?” Try: “My visibility dropped 10% last month on Claude. I launched a new product but haven’t created content for it yet. What’s happening?”

Limitations

The AEO Agent:
  • Analyzes data from your tracked prompts—add more prompts for broader coverage
  • Provides recommendations based on patterns, not guarantees
  • Works best with 2-4 weeks of historical data for trend analysis
  • Cannot directly modify your content or website
For best results, maintain consistent prompt tracking and act on the opportunities the agent surfaces.
