Prompts are the foundation of ChatFeatured. They represent the questions you want to track across AI answer engines to measure your brand’s visibility.

Understanding Prompts

A prompt is a question or query that ChatFeatured sends to multiple AI answer engines. The responses are then analyzed to determine:
  • Whether your brand was mentioned
  • Which competitors appeared
  • What sources were cited
  • The overall context and sentiment

Creating Prompts

Adding a Single Prompt

  1. Navigate to Prompts in the sidebar
  2. Click Add Prompt
  3. Enter your prompt text
  4. Select target countries
  5. Add optional tags for organization
  6. Click Save

Writing Effective Prompts

Good prompts mirror how real users ask questions to AI assistants:
Write prompts the way a person would actually ask an AI assistant.Good: “What’s the best CRM software for small businesses?”Avoid: “CRM software small business comparison list”
Include relevant context to get more targeted responses.Good: “What project management tools are best for remote teams?”Avoid: “Best project management tools”
Create variations of the same question to get a complete picture.
  • “What’s the best email marketing platform?”
  • “Which email marketing tools do experts recommend?”
  • “What should I look for in an email marketing service?”
Create prompts for different stages of the buying process:
  • Awareness: “What is [category]?”
  • Consideration: “What are the best [category] options?”
  • Decision: “Should I use [your brand] or [competitor]?”

Bulk Adding Prompts

To add multiple prompts at once:

Managing Prompts

Prompt Status

Prompts can be:
  • Active: Running daily across all AI engines
  • Paused: Not currently running but saved for later

Editing Prompts

Click on any prompt to edit its text, countries, or tags. Changes take effect on the next run.

Deleting Prompts

Select prompts using the checkboxes and click Delete to remove them. This also removes all historical results for those prompts.
Deleting prompts permanently removes all associated data. Consider pausing prompts instead if you want to preserve historical results.

Running Prompts

Automatic Runs

Active prompts run automatically once per day. This builds a historical record of your AI visibility over time.

Manual Runs

To run prompts immediately:
  1. Select the prompts you want to run
  2. Click Run Models
  3. Results will appear within a few minutes

Understanding Run Results

Each run produces results from all 8 AI answer engines. For each result, you’ll see:
FieldDescription
ResponseThe full text response from the AI
Brand MentionedWhether your brand appeared in the response
CompetitorsWhich tracked competitors were mentioned
SourcesURLs and citations included in the response
PositionWhere your brand appeared (if mentioned)

Organizing with Tags

Tags let you categorize prompts for better filtering and analysis. By grouping prompts into categories, you can analyze your AI visibility performance by topic, intent, or any dimension that matters to your business.

Why Use Tags?

  • Filter prompts - Quickly find and manage specific groups
  • Analyze by category - See mention rates and trends for each tag
  • Compare performance - Understand which categories have strong or weak visibility

Tag by Search Intent

One effective approach is tagging prompts by the type of search intent they represent:
Intent TypeExample Prompts
Discovery”Best CRM for small business”, “Top project management tools”
Comparison”Slack vs Teams”, “Difference between X and Y”
Problem/Solution”How to fix slow website”, “Why does my email bounce”
Alternatives”Alternatives to Salesforce”, “Tools like Notion”
Buying Decision”Affordable email marketing”, “Where to buy X”
Feature Specific”CRM with email integration”, “Tool that does X”

Other Tagging Strategies

  • By product line: “Enterprise”, “Starter”, “API”
  • By topic: “Pricing”, “Features”, “Reviews”
  • By funnel stage: “Awareness”, “Consideration”, “Decision”
See the Tags documentation for more on creating and managing tags.

Geographic Targeting

AI responses vary by country. ChatFeatured lets you test prompts in multiple regions:
  1. When creating a prompt, select one or more countries
  2. Each country generates separate results
  3. Compare visibility across regions in analytics
Start with your primary market, then expand to other regions where you’re targeting customers.

Best Practices

Start with Core Questions

Begin with 5-10 prompts that represent the most important questions in your market. These typically include:
  • Category overview questions (“What is the best X?”)
  • Comparison questions (“X vs Y”)
  • Recommendation questions (“What X do experts recommend?”)

Build Over Time

Add new prompts as you:
  • Discover new questions customers are asking
  • Launch new products or features
  • Enter new markets or categories

Review and Refine

Periodically review your prompts:
  • Remove prompts that are no longer relevant
  • Update prompts to reflect current market terminology
  • Add prompts based on insights from your results
