ChatGPT Ads brings advertising intelligence and campaign management into ChatFeatured. It does two things:
  1. Competitor intelligence — see which advertisers are showing up in ChatGPT responses for your brand’s prompts, the creative they’re running, and the prompts that trigger them.
  2. Campaign management — connect your OpenAI Ads Manager account to create campaigns, track performance, and generate ad creative without leaving the dashboard.
You’ll find it in the dashboard sidebar under ChatGPT Ads for the selected brand.
The competitor intelligence views (Overview and Competitor Ads) are available to everyone on the workspace. Campaign management features (Campaigns, Insights, Creative Studio, and Settings) are owner-only and require connecting an OpenAI Ads Manager account.

What it tracks

Advertisers

Distinct companies whose ads have appeared in ChatGPT responses to your brand’s prompts.

Ad creative

Unique ads seen across all advertisers, deduped by title, description, and landing URL.

Impressions

How often each ad appeared in a ChatGPT response that ChatFeatured captured.

Prompts with ads

Which of your active prompts trigger at least one ad in a ChatGPT response.
Competitor ad data is captured automatically from your tracked prompts—as ChatGPT returns ads in responses to those prompts, advertisers, ads, and impressions appear here. No extra setup is required.

Overview

The Overview tab summarizes activity at a glance:
  • Advertisers tracked, Distinct ads, Impressions captured, and Prompts with ads, each with a 7-day change indicator
  • Recently spotted advertisers — the newest advertisers to appear in your prompt results
  • Who is spending the most? — top advertisers by impressions over the last 7 or 30 days
From here you can jump into any of the other tabs.

Competitor Ads

The Competitor Ads tab is where you investigate the advertising landscape around your brand. Switch between two views:

By advertiser

Browse every advertiser appearing in ChatGPT responses for your prompts. Drill into an advertiser to see:
  • The individual ads they’re running (title, description, landing URL, creative)
  • How many impressions each ad has captured
  • The prompts where their ads show up

By prompt

Start from your prompts instead. See which prompts surface ads, and which advertisers and creatives appear for each one. This is useful for spotting prompts where competitors are buying visibility.
Use the By prompt view to find high-intent prompts where competitors are advertising. Those are strong candidates for your own campaigns.

Managing your own campaigns

To create and manage campaigns, you first need to connect your OpenAI Ads Manager account. See OpenAI Ads Manager for the one-time connection steps. Once connected, the following owner-only tabs unlock.

Campaigns

Create and manage your advertising structure directly in ChatFeatured:
  • Campaigns — set an objective (clicks, conversions, or impressions), budget (daily or total), target locations, and schedule
  • Ad groups — set a max CPM bid and optional context hints within a campaign
  • Ads — title, description, landing URL, and image creative
Each ad carries a review status (In review, Approved, or Rejected) reflecting OpenAI’s ad review.

Insights

Pull performance metrics straight from your OpenAI Ads account:
  • Impressions, clicks, conversions, and spend, plus CTR, CPC, and CPM
  • Scope to the whole account, a campaign, an ad group, or a single ad
  • Break results down by day and filter by date range

Creative Studio

Generate ad creative with AI, then push it straight into your account:
  1. Describe your campaign goal, target audience, landing URL, and brand voice
  2. Generate ad copy variants and an ad image
  3. Select a variant and push it to a new ad in a chosen campaign and ad group

Settings

Manage the connection to your OpenAI Ads Manager account—paste and test your Advertiser API key, view the connected ad account, and review a log of recent API calls. See OpenAI Ads Manager for details.

Best practices

  • Review Competitor Ads regularly to track which advertisers are entering ChatGPT for your space
  • Use the By prompt view to prioritize prompts where competitors are already advertising
  • Keep your prompts active and up to date—competitor ad data is only captured for prompts you’re tracking
  • After launching a campaign, monitor Insights to compare spend against clicks and conversions
